COBOL -> Python translation with Codex:
Can @OpenAI's Codex deal with punch card-era code and translate it into Python? @ryanmark1867 set out to find out. buff.ly/3A3ovl5

We've created an AI system that can summarize books. Matches the quality of human-written summaries 5% of the time, and there's lots of room to improve from here. One step towards building AI systems that can reliably perform tasks that are hard for humans to even evaluate.
We want our AI systems to be aligned with human intentions. This is especially important as tasks get more difficult to evaluate. To develop techniques to address this problem, we trained a model to summarize books. openai.com/blog/summarizing-…

Codex for computational chemistry:
Announcing Natural Language Computation Chemistry CLI (nlcc)! @glenhocky and I have packaged some common computational chemistry tasks into a new command line tool that uses natural language instead of code via @OpenAI CODEX github.com/whitead/nlcc

Cogram.ai—a Codex-powered tool that stops you from needing to constantly look up data science code (main reason I lose patience with data science myself!), letting you "focus on the problems that matter". Available in Jupyter Notebook. Demo: invidio.us/watch?v=bdnp0Ecc…

Creating a SwiftUI view from description:
Blows my mind how powerful Codex by @OpenAI is. Feels like 🪄✨ Here it is generating a functional SwiftUI view from a descriptive comment.

Experiencing Codex for the first time:
We played around with @OpenAI Codex. Commentary from Connor Leahy @NPCollapse and Walid Saba @sabawalid included! Even Walid was impressed 😂 invidio.us/1CG_I3vMHn4 @ykilcher @ecsquendor

Codex for iterating on animations in JavaScript:
The future of coding feels less about syntax and frameworks, and more about explicit creative direction. Watch as I create a js animation and dynamically instruct @OpenAI's codex to modify the solution, successfully -- all with english. loom.com/share/e63d1c1f86eb4… cc @gdb

Codex for your interactive data analysis notebook:
I'm building an interactive AI-powered data analysis notebook using @openAI's CODEX API. 1) Upload your data, 2) describe in English what kind of analysis you want, 3) The AI generates python code for this request, 4) the notebook visualizes the table and plots.

Using Codex to translate assembly to natural language. Not something I’m very good at myself:
#codex of @OpenAI explains Assembly! - sometimes it takes multiple iterations for a solid output, but hey, Rome wasn't built in one day. - I'm still baffled by the many application and implications of this pretrained #ai model. @gdb

A Codex-powered tool for automatically creating docstrings for your code. Look much nicer than the ones I would write!
Another open-source tool powered by @OpenAI #Codex: auto-docstring (github.com/scottleibrand/cod…) writes and adds Python (PEP 257) docstrings summarizing what each of your functions does, what arguments it takes, and what it returns. How/where would *you* use this kind of capability?

Generating a shell script from a comment:
I asked #codex #ai to write a bash script that takes a list of URLs from a text file, makes a request to each URL, and returns the status code. 3 seconds later, boom :) It would've taken my poor bash skills much more than that! #cybersecurity @gdb 👇
